2017 Summer Trends

Celebrities weigh in on the question of are chokers over!

Frasier Sterling Jewelry

Are chokers over? As with all trends, they are constantly changing and evolving. For example, Kendall Jenner has been wearing several of our daintier chokers together for a layered – as opposed to the thick black choker that we saw a lot of last season.

Trend prediction for 2017. We are definitely seeing a move towards more delicate/chain chokers and necklaces and this new year expect to see more of that which is especially fun for layering.

Are chokers over? I think the choker trend will never really end. If you think about the choker as we know it right now—it was born in the nineties, but pearl necklaces were worn by French courtesans until 1960. And what about Lady Diana? She wore tight necklaces throughout the ’80s. For me, what is new about chokers is that there’s so many for different occasions—we want it to be glamorous or casual, to be cool or sexy, and even to match our sportswear outfits. It’s no longer a “fancy” accessory.
Trend prediction for 2017: With designers creating micro-collections throughout the year, people want to multiply and accumulate jewelry. That will probably be the trend for the upcoming years. More than ever the trend is about doubling and tripling! The best example is the earrings: We used to have one nice pair of earrings. Today, we want earrings for the tragus, the helix, the snug, the upper lobe… And which girl wants to wear only one ring ? I know girls who don’t have enough fingers to wear all the rings they wish everyday!
